Purpose

Statement of Purpose:
Knowing God

Here at CCW our supreme desire is to know God.  We do this by learning how He has revealed Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ, in the scriptures.  As we get to know God and what He is truly like, the natural response of our lives is to worship Him, to obey His commands, and to tell others of Him.

We believe the Biblical model for the church is found in the book of Acts.  Here we find four activities for the church to follow:

“And they continued steadfastly in
the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship,
in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
Acts 2:42

Apostles’ Doctrine (The Teaching of the Word)
“God, who…spoke in time past…by the prophets,
has in these last days spoken to us by His Son….”
Hebrews 1:1-2

The Bible is our infallible source of information about God. The Old Testament reveals God’s nature by pointing ahead to Jesus. The New Testament reveals God’s nature by pointing us back to Jesus. The winds of false doctrine blow continuously, but by knowing God through His word, our faith will have a firm foundation.

Our goal is for all to know God better through the teaching of His word.
Therefore, we put great emphasis on teaching the whole of scripture, both on Sunday mornings and at studies during the week.

Fellowship
“So we, being many, are one body in Christ,
And, individually, members of one another.”
Romans 12:5

Every person is uniquely gifted by the Lord to be a necessary part of the body of Christ. By spending time in fellowship with the body of Christ, we build Christian friendships. Christian friendships strengthen us to live Godly lives, give us support in times of need, and earn us the right to speak into each other’s lives.

Our goal is provide a friendly, loving, and supportive community of believers under the headship of Jesus.
Therefore, the church meets every Wednesday night for Bible study and fellowship. We have monthly potluck gatherings and regular fun outings for everyone.

Breaking of Bread (Communion and Worship)
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers
will worship the Father in spirit and truth;
for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”
John 4:23

At CCW we worship by remembering the work of the cross by taking communion (the breaking of bread), and through singing. As we do this, we take our focus off the cares of this life, and give honor to the One who gives us peace.

Our goal is to provide services where all may enjoy the presence of God.
Therefore, communion is offered on the first Sunday morning and the third Wednesday night of each month. Great place is given to simple worship music on Sundays and Wednesday nights.

Prayer
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16

Prayer is how we give our cares to God, confess our sins, find strength for daily life, and engage in spiritual battle. Prayer is a critical part of enjoying a relationship with God.

Our goal is for those who attend CCW to have satisfying, dynamic prayer lives.
Therefore, prayer is an integral part of every church gathering. Additionally, the men gather for prayer on Saturday mornings, and all are invited to prayer on Sunday mornings at 9:30 before the service.

As a believer grows in relationship with the Lord through the above activities, the natural result is to reach out to the world with the hope of Jesus.

Reaching Out
“You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.”
Matthew 5:13, 14

As a person lives for the Lord, God will use their life to draw people to Himself. Through the activities listed above, our prayer is that believers will be empowered to live winsome lives for Christ. Through relationships, opportunities will come to share the good news of Jesus.

Our goal is to share the hope of Jesus with the hurting and the lost.
Therefore, at CCW we present the salvation message regularly on Sunday mornings, and encourage inviting unsaved friends and neighbors. We host an annual free Christian concert in Windsor and share the gospel. The pastor provides free biblical counseling. CCW organizes work days and provides assistance to those with physical and financial needs. The church supports missionaries internationally, and gives opportunities to go on mission trips.

At CCW, we believe there is no higher purpose than knowing
the true and living God. Our prayer is that all church activities
help you grow in your relationship with the Lord.
