Worship Statement
We believe that worship is not about feelings; it’s not about singing the “right” songs, triggering an emotional response, or even singing songs that are directly related to the topic of the message. While all of these things are good—it's not frowned upon—it’s not the sole purpose of worship. We live in a country where we can corporately gather under the Banner of Jesus Christ and bring an offering of praise and worship before Him; to do so is a blessing and a privilege.
Worship is an offering that we bring before the Lord, similar to offerings of money or service. Even on days when we don’t feel like worshiping, we still do it because He alone is worthy of our praise. Worship is a discipline that we train up to remind us that God is sovereign over all things. Corporate worship is also a great way to encourage our fellow brothers and sisters. When you’re in a room full of people who are all genuinely worshiping from their hearts, you can’t help but want to join in!
Musical Style
We sing songs of thanksgiving, love, admiration of God’s character, etc. Our musical style is mostly focused on, but not limited to, Christian contemporary worship and hymns. We feel that introducing new music is important (Psalm 144:9); it’s how we keep ourselves from falling into bland and meaningless routine. However, we also see the value and importance of singing older songs. Just because they’re old doesn’t make them any less valuable. When considering a song to potentially add to the rotation, we look for solid Biblical truth that points to the Holy Trinity, as well as congregational singability.
We participate in an extended period of worship both during our Sunday morning services and Wednesday evening services. Expect a total of 5-7 songs or 30-40 minutes of corporate worship week to week and service to service.
Every first Wednesday of the month, we have a night dedicated to prayer, worship, fellowship, and a short devotional time led by a member of the congregation. Expect 8-10 songs or 40-50 minutes of worship.
