TJ Broussard is the Assistant Pastor of Calvary Chapel Windsor.
He has been serving in ministry since 2020, having been in his current role since February of 2024.
I was born in Ft. Worth Texas and was raised in the south. When I was younger, my stepfather was a Music Director at a Southern Baptist Church, which is where I was introduced to the Gospel, understood my need for Jesus to be my Savior, and gave my life to the Lord. I was told time and time again by those that I served under, and alongside in that church that the Lord was calling me to ministry. And honestly, in my heart, I knew the same. I was elected to become the second hand the the Youth Pastor there, where he had me (fearfully lol) witnessing in my school at lunchtime, in store parking lots, on street corners, and eventually in other states on mission trips.
In that same time, while I was still in grade-school, I witnessed the World Trade Center come under attack. I watched, as a child, our nation rally and begin to launch the War on Terror. Even as a child, I felt the call to join the fight. At the age of 17, I enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman and served for 15 years in that capacity where I conducted combat operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and across East Africa. In that time, the call to ministry never faded. I attended school online at Liberty University, where I double majored in Evangelism and Pastoral Studies.
Throughout all my tours and my time in the Infantry, I still continued to witness and teach God’s Word. I did my best to be a front-line leader in a way that pointed others to, and honored, the Lord.
In 2017 while, I was injured on the battlefield and medically evacuated back stateside here to Colorado. Because of the injuries I sustained, the Army decided it best that I be medically separated instead of retained and began processing me out of the military. Then, in May of 2020, I was out of the Infantry and entered into the civilian world for the first time in my adult life.
It was at this time that I met my now wife, Nicole, who also served in the Armed Forces and had just come back from a tour herself. We found ourselves at Rocky Mountain Calvary and it quickly became our home. I served there in the High School for about a year and then took over their Men’s Discipleship and Mentoring program. After some time at that, I found myself running their Café and Food ministry. Nicole and I got married, started our family, and had both entered into their School of Discipleship program due to the encouragement of my good friends on the staff there, because (unbeknownst to me) I was being considered to be ordained as a pastor at RMC.
Just as life seemed to be hitting a stride, the Lord up and moved our family to Northern Colorado, where I was pointed towards Calvary Chapel Windsor. We got here the same week that Pastor Mike and his family did! As the weeks went by, the Lord once again pushed me to serve in the church. And like before, this quickly became home. I was later approached by Pastor Mike and our Men’s Ministry Director, Bob Chipman, and asked if I would prayerfully consider being the Assistant Pastor here at Calvary Chapel Windsor. After the Lord made clear to me that I was called here for that exact purpose, I accepted and have been doing ministry along Pastor Mike ever since. My family, which now consists of ourselves and our 4 children, are honored and privileged to be a part of and serve this body of believers, as well as be a light to our community.
